Sunday bank holiday weekend 1 May 2005-05-01
Time 2.20pm
Location
Works Main Office, Kitson Rd, Leeds.
Yorkshire.
Interview with Simon Clark, the mastermind behind, arguable one of the best Skate Parks in Yorkshire. Madfire had requested the meet, asked a bunch-fist-full of
questiions, Simon offered the following info in responce
Simon Clark moved into Kitson rd Leeds in August 2003 and with the help of some of the uks most crucial talent spent six weeks building what is now known as "The
Works".
The Park was part designed for BMX by "JEZ" and Skateboard Brainiac "SNOZ".
Between them they planned to produce an environment fit for Bladders, BMX, and skateboarders to co-exist. Many more authoritive than I believe the deal has been
done
The park was soon under the spotlight when visited by Mark Gonzalez
and the Girl Skate team who filmed most of the Tour video at the works and because of this the works has become popular with touring American skaters.
After meeting Simon Clark It is not difficult to see why this venue has become a must visit spot and because Simon surrounds himself with arguable some of the
best skate park brains in Britain and has backed those brains to the hilt with hard cash.
The works has a spacious lounge area to chill out, relax or watch skate vids. Foods not bad either, £2.60 for chilli chips and coffee is well cheap for its Leeds
City Location.
Simon has big plans to expand into play-station gaming, since Sony expressed an interest in Simon's creation. Other areas of interest include on-site
skate-vid-editing workshops, to enable Skaters to do on-site skate image editing on the day its shot, cutting out the need for expensive home editing software. There are also future plans for an outdoor park for
when the sun turns up, skate academy training is well underway for the new-bees and I certainly got the impression that it don't stop there.
If you want to know the future of UK commercial skate parks, keep a keen eye on Kitson road, it may just surprise you!
